Global Aviation Services focuses on Cargo Consolidation

Hussam Namou,
Manager, Global Aviation Services

Global Aviation Services, serving the corporate, charter and cargo, scheduled and non-scheduled flights, has grown considerably in size and structure since its inception in 1999. Equipped with a fleet of nine IL-76 and four AN-12 aircraft, Global Aviation is all set to expand its horizons by concentrating on air consolidation services.

"We have been operating in the market on a charter basis. The company as an expansion effort is concentrating on offering consolidation services from Sharjah to Baghdad, to freight forwarders and their clients who do not have enough cargo to charter their own aircraft. As the demand grows, we plan to offer the service from Dubai to Baghdad as well," says George J. Krukowski, Cargo Manager, Global Aviation Services.

Global Aviation currently offers a range of services including charter flights, over flight & landing permits, fuel, ground handling and cargo consolidation.
Recollecting one incident, George J. Krukowski says, "we recently had a charter flight of perishable goods to be shipped out of Dubai, however 8-10 hours prior to departure we still had not secured landing permission for that particular country. Through the efforts of our operations staff, working throughout the night were we able to overcome these obstacles. The charter departed Dubai as scheduled and landed at the destination airport without a hitch."

Both Hussam Namou and George J. Krukowski agree that to be a premium service provider it is necessary to overcome obstacles with ease and perfection.

Commenting on the kind of challenges the company face, Krukowski says, "different countries have different regulations and a company should always be aware of them and adjust accordingly. For instance countries like Afghanistan and Iraq, for various security reasons, have time constraints on landings and take-off. So, the loading here has to be in a time frame which coincides with the particular requirements of the receiving country."
Revealing the organization’s expansion plans, Hussam says, "right now, we are engaged in developing our new air consolidation service department to be at par with the industry; and from the new office and warehouse at Baghdad International Airport we look at other possibilities within Iraq and beyond."
"We possess all the right tools for ideal cargo operations – aircraft, permission, workforce, cargo handling and warehouses. There is a tremendous demand for charter aircrafts throughout the entire Middle East, C.I.S. countries and the continent of Africa. With our regional positioning we cater to these particular markets best", added Hussam.

Royal Jet announces plans to build new FBO

Royal Jet, the luxury aircraft charter company chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, has announced its plans to build a new executive aircraft terminal in Abu Dhabi. Usually called the Fixed Based Operation (FBO), the FBO is scheduled for completion in 2007.
The new FBO will support Royal Jet’s growth and allow it to expand its services to include handling, fuelling, flight planning as well as aircraft maintenance and other services to all executive aircraft coming to Abu Dhabi. Currently, aircraft maintenance for business aircraft is not offered in the region, with private charter aircraft having to go to Europe for maintenance and repairs. In addition to offering maintenance and handling services, the Royal Jet FBO will also be able to offer

conference rooms and offices for rent.
“The new Royal Jet FBO will bring the luxury aircraft charter industry to Abu Dhabi and reinforce Abu Dhabi Airport’s position as an international hub. No other FBO in the world can offer the range, quality and level of luxury services that Royal Jet’s new facilities will have,” said His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.
In order to pool a high standard of design concepts for the FBO, an international design competition was held to choose the best possible company to implement the project management, master-planning, design and construction supervision. 13 renowned international design consultants were invited to submit prequalification documents of which

six consultants were chosen to submit design concepts. Royal Jet has currently identified a shortlist of four design concepts. Further review and analysis are underway to select the final consultant which is expected to be announced in late-October.
“Our goal for the new Royal Jet FBO is to be a premier private aviation facility and a gateway to the Middle East, to offer a private, opulent and confidential travel environment and to exceed all expectations — making us a leader worldwide. We are very pleased with the high level of architectural and technical submissions received and the keen interest from the design community in this unique project,” said Hanan Sayed Worrell, Project Director for the New FBO facilities.
